One of the first things I noticed while visiting London was how put together everyone is. Like a street-style runway, locals have the strut and the shape to support their style – the slim cut never looked so right! This city knows the way to my fashion-heart and I am happy to share 5 key elements (I found) for looking like a Londoner in Spring.
5 Key Elements:
Boots – Your boots should be made for walking and style. Well dressed feet were one of two elements I noticed first. My Nine West ankle flats were more versatile and comfortable than anything else I packed. As a visitor, you’ll want to be prepared for any attraction or dinning experience and sleek boots are the way to go.
Coat – London weather is unpredictable; look like a local with a great and warm coat. I found this to be the second most standout thread. Business men are often wearing a fitted overcoat or blazer, but style doesn’t fall short for casual occasions. The same goes for the women. While black dominates, women are often making statements with beautiful cuts and colors. Keep the fit in mind – any outerwear that doesn’t fit perfectly should be intentional.
Scarves – Scarves are the best way to break up the bland and stay warm during chilly rain and wind spouts. Think sleek. I can’t express this enough…London men and women are totally put together. Guys tend to stick to a simple loop, tucking scarves into their coat. Women have more fun with colors and patterns, but are no less polished.
Slim Legs – I did not notice a single person wearing leggings. A noticeable trend for the ladies was black tights with black boots (Cuh-Yute!). Both men and women show off their stems with slender pants. Remember, if you’re wearing killer boots and an amazing jacket, you’ll want a clean line connecting the two.
Bag – One thing is for certain, Londoners spare no expense when it comes to showcasing the best bags. Home of the infamous Harrod’s department store, and neighborhoods lined with the world’s most desirable brands, London offers access to any and every bag imaginable. If designer bags are out of your budget, you might try these lookalike options from Bag Inc: Céline, Chanel, Chloe, Givenchy, and Bao Bao.
