Watch My Current Skincare Routine + Smoothie Recipe & Music Talk

My skin has been an unpredictable struggle since puberty, BUT I have noticed that it looks its best if I maintain a consistent skincare routine. I believe great skincare requires 3 key products: cleanser, toner and moisturizer. I found gentle, oil-free cleansers work best for the daily routine, and exfoliating cleansers should be used weekly, at most. For me, an exfoliating cleanser is too harsh for daily use. Toner can be used seasonally or as needed for things like hormonal imbalances or breakouts. Since toner dries out the skin, I try to avoid using it in dry climates or seasons, unless I have a breakout, because it can cause irritation, dry skin and redness. Not cute. In addition to washing my face 2x a day, I always apply a moisturizer (typically with SPF). If your moisturizer doesn’t have SPF in it, you’ll want to add this to your skincare routine. Product tip from my esthetician friends: look for retinol, vitamin c and broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Other key elements for achieving your best skin are a CLEAN diet, and de-stressers. I believe the cleaner (aka more natural/raw) we eat, the better our entire body feels – especially our skin. My daily smoothies are one way I pack essential nutrients into my diet.  You’ll also want to drink as much water as possible – I recommend a minimum of 1/2 your body weight, in ounces (Ex. 130lbs –> 65 oz of water = 8.12 glasses). Finally, stress can cause gross acne and unwanted texture in our skin.
