Birthday Donut 🍩 Being that it is my birthday today, I thought I’d share the story behind the painting. Birthday Donut is a tradition that started on Ben’s 30th birthday. We were on the road for a family moto trip, which made it difficult to have a cake. When we stopped for gas, I bought a sprinkle donut and surprised him in the car yelling, “Birthday donut!! Happy birthday!” Now, we have birthday donuts every year on our birthdays. 🥰 Needless to say, this painting is not for sale.

Because, why not paint a gummy bear? I love painting things that make me smile or evoke joy. There’s something adorable about these iconic, squishy candies that I just had to paint - but on a brightly colored mini canvas.

This is the first in a group of colorful bears I hope to include in upcoming holiday markets. There’s still some work to do on the red bear, but isn’t it cute?! ❤️🧸

It has been a full few days here in NWA. 🎨I’

It has been a full few days here in NWA.

🎨I’ve committed to a big painting project, which I chipped away at. We explored new areas of the Crystal Bridges art walk in downtown Bentonville.

☕️ Spent Saturday morning at Onyx Coffee and the Farmers Market 🌸 then picked up a loaner from Specialized before road tripping to Devil’s Den for a 2.5hr eMTB ride. 🚲Sadly, it’s been too dry for the waterfalls to flow, so we’ll have to come back. Before we left, a quick stop turned into a 1hr RT nature walk to get to the scenic lookout (worth it). We talked about books we’re reading to destract from the heat and our exhaustion (113°). 🥵

🚤Sunday, we visited New Heights Church with some friends then spent the afternoon surfing and swimming on Beaver Lake.

A hodgepodge week. Last Thursday, my HUGE family

A hodgepodge week.

Last Thursday, my HUGE family celebrated 101 years of my grandmother. It’s the first time in at least a decade that I can remember all 100+ of us being in one place at the same time. I browsed her home for, what could be, the last time ever & clipped a piece of the trumpet vine from her yard - my hope is it will flourish at my home in NWA. Whenever I look at it, I’ll think of her, especially when it blooms. 🌱

Spent a few days with family in Omaha, talking late into the evenings, picking out new house plants we don’t need (but my soul does) and loving on family puppies because [it’s a fact] petting dogs boosts your happy hormones. 🐕

Pursuing new opportunities with my art including launching a website, planning commissions, and printmaking. 🎨

With a bike in the shop, we browsed Bentonville on foot. The art walk at Crystal Bridges is an easy go-to, especially since we’re still new and have only scratched the surface of what’s available here in NWA. 🚲

Like I said, hodgepodge, but goodpodge. ❤️

There was so much I didn’t capture from this stunning exhibit at Crystal Bridges. My favorite elements of Diego Rivera’s work are his infamous florals, his use of color, and his intricate frescoes. I can’t wait for the Annie Leibovitz exhibit in September 📷 Feeling grateful for such incredible programming at my local art museum.

My adventure buddy Shannon came to visit us in NWA! 👯‍♀️ We only had her for a few days so we squeezed in some of our favorites like eMTB in Bella Vista, coffee, dinner, shopping and live music in downtown Bentonville, and paddling Little Sugar Creek. We only scratched the surface so she has to come back for more…like maybe next week?
